Podcasting - The New Age Digital Broadcasting

Podcasting software are among the recent tools that techies are using in the area of digital publishing. The idea of broadcasting information using the online medium had started long back. With several innovations added to various digital publishing mechanisms, podcasting has become a buzzword lately. Podcasting is a rather simple technique and can be easily accomplished using simple to use podcasting softwares. A striking feature of podcast and is that, as soon as new content is added, it is automatically downloadable or associated with the subscribed services. The users (subscribers) can thus get ready updates on the services they have subscribed to.

Before going into the details of podcasting software and their uses, let us first quickly understand what podcasting is. A group of media files are published on an online medium, Internet using RSS feeds. These files can then be viewed or listened to on a computer or other media players. Thus, the whole process of being able to publish media files on computers and portable devices is called podcasting or also is simply referred to as podcast. The term, podcast was actually coined from combination of 'POD' (Portable on Demand) and 'cast' taken from broadcast.

Having technically understood what podcasting let us now look at some podcasting software and tools that will help you get your media content published. There are many basic podcasting softwares that will help you get started. One can also find advanced P S for refining and optimizing the media content for enhanced broadcast quality. It is desirable to have at least basic knowledge of computers and Internet to be able to use these podcasting tools.

Podcasting - The New Age Digital Broadcasting

To begin with, one needs audio or video recording software. This would also help in editing the media so that desired output is obtained. Audacity and RecordForAll are examples of such softwares. The next step would be to optimize the file so that it can be uploaded and published over the net. MP3 is the most preferred format for this purpose. Encoders can be used for this purpose, which form an important utility in podcasting softwares. LAME and iTunes can be used for conversion purposes. Using certain media players is recommended so that the final publishable media can be checked for its quality and performance before it is uploaded on the Internet. Any media player like Windows Media Player, WinAmp, and so on should be sufficient to test the media file. Finally, when the above steps are completed, one would need uploading software (FTP) to transfer the podcast from local computer to remote server location. Many FTP softwares (CuteFTP, SmartFTP, Ws-FTP) can be downloaded from the Internet and used.

Generally a combination of the above tools forms a complete podcasting software suite. However, there are all-in-one podcasting software that quickly allow broadcasting of the media content. AudioBlogger, and FeedForAll are two such examples of podcasting softwares.

Is The "Long Island Medium" Real? The Truth About Celebrity Psychics

Are TV psychics and mediums real, or just good for entertainment purposes alone? Are the shows scripted in advance.....or are the readings really as impressive as they appear on the show? And what about the most POPULAR medium on TV today - The "Long Island Medium" with Theresa Caputo, is she the real deal......or simply just another person pretending to communicate with spirits for money, fame and celebrity prestige? In this article we are going to take a quick and easy look at the Long Island Medium TV show, and I'll share my personal opinion on whether I believe she is doing something truly extraordinary, or simply makes for good TV instead. Curious to know more? Continue reading as we take a closer look below!

My Personal Psychic Experiences

First, of course ALL of this is just my own personal opinion, and based on many years of research, publishing and adventures in the psychic realm. (as I've written well over 1000 published articles on psychic phenomena and maintain a whole slew of blogs, websites and social communities in the psychic field)

Is The "Long Island Medium" Real? The Truth About Celebrity Psychics

With that said, I've had hundreds of readings myself, and feel like I'm a pretty good judge at who is the real deal....and who is just enjoying a good ride up the totem pole of success!

When I first started watching the show...

I was a bit skeptical, to say the least. While I'm definitely a true blue believer in the authenticity of MANY psychic mediums, (through personal experience and rigorous research) I'm also very well aware that many, especially on TV, are often much more about entertainment, than genuine ethereal enlightenment.

At first, many of Theresa's messages were a bit vague for my tastes and with so much "1 to 1" contact, cold reading.....or picking up non verbal cues from clients, is a HUGE risk as well.

(Note: This is BIG reason most people who study psychic mediums prefer to test them on the phone....with no direct visual contact with the people they're reading. This is often called "blind" readings for that reason)

Over a number of shows, and doing some of my own research by talking to other people in the field, my opinion started to change in her favor.

Watching a few shows this weekend, I was impressed by some of the seemingly spontaneous reactions of people who Theresa "read" in unexpected places, and the super specific information she shared with each of them. (and of course, their reactions to what she shared which is very hard to script, and seemed to reflect genuine amazement and incredulity at the accuracy of what they were told)

At the end of the day, it's VERY difficult to gauge how accurate a medium is on TV. The format makes it very tough to judge.....as it's TV, and designed to entertain us, and keep us coming back. Plus, we have no idea how much is "omitted" as well, and this keeps my skeptical guard up, even today.

That said, I'm impressed with "The Long Island Medium" and it's pretty good TV, too! As someone who has had personal experiences (and readings) with some of the biggest names in celebrity mediumship (people like John Edward and the like, who I believe is 100% authentic) I'm definitely interested in learning more about Theresa Caputo....and when available, would be very interested in seeing her face to face as well!

The only real downside of investigating famous psychics, mediums and clairvoyants?

Cost. Most of the better known celebrity psychics charge such a large amount for a reading, that the general public is priced out of the equation. The good news is, you DON'T have to pay a fortune to a celebrity psychic to get an amazing reading, and often......you can find local or telephone readers who are equally as good, for a fraction, of the fraction of the cost. As I've said many times in the past.....my WORST reading ever cost me over 00 (with a famous psychic who I had to travel to see) and one my best, cost and literally blew me away.....without having to get off my sofa to boot!

Five Creative Methods of Teaching English to TEFL Learners

As English teachers, we’re almost always on the lookout for new and interesting ways to stimulate our language learners. It was ELT author and researcher Stephen D. Krashen who gave us his Affective Filter hypothesis of Second or Foreign language acquisition. (Krashen – Terrell, 1983) His hypothesis states, that conditions which promote low anxiety levels in class allow improved learning on the part of students. When learners enjoy class activities their Affective Filter is low and they learn more. New and different activities “out of the norm” also lower learner affective filters.

Here are some not-so-commonly-used techniques for adding that “new twist” to your English or foreign language classes. Giving learners something new does wonders in relieving boredom, spiking interest and lowering the Affective Filter of learners on whom you may have “tried everything”.

1. Using an iPod

Five Creative Methods of Teaching English to TEFL Learners

Do you learners carry iPods or cellular phones? Don’t curse and swear at them for using technology in their lives. Turn it to your advantage! A number of good websites now exist that can get you and your learners up and running using this latest new technology for language learning and practice. Here are useful website for more podcasting information:

• Morning Stories
[http://www.wgbh.org/schedules/program-info?program_id=143912]

• Podcast Pickle http://www.podcastpickle.com

• Internet TESL Journal http://iteslj.org/links/ESL/Listening/Podcasts/

2. Let Mr. Bean Help You

You all know him and love his humorous twists on daily living. So don’t just sit there nodding, grab a CD or VHS full of episodes and try a few out on your learners. Let them do the talking. They can offer suggestions, write to Mr. Bean and his other characters, express opinions and do comparisons of his world vs. their own. By the way, is he REALLY an alien? Follow his antics, get video clips, program guides and more at:

3. Ask Walt Disney for Advice

Although I’m old enough to remember his presence and passing, Walt Disney can still make us laugh, smile, cry and cheer with the antics of scores of his characters and their families. Take some short “clips” from his animated stories. Change the situation. Alter the characters. Modify an ending or a beginning to cause a whole different outlook on age-old themes. Are your stories and characters better? As long as they’re different, stimulating and generate interest or discussion, that’s all that matters. Everyone, even you, will have a great time coming up with new twists on these classic themes. Try it!
Visit Disney online here:

4. Letting Learners Create Lesson Materials

Turnabout is fair play, or so they say. Take a day to switch roles. Have you ever let your learners write an exam? How about planning a fun class? Having a “hot” conversation on a topic that THEY want to talk about – music, movies, cute guys / gals, techno-babble? Nothing is taboo – well almost nothing, anyway! What do you think they’ll talk about? You’d be surprised!

5. Join the Club

Let’s all go to the Conversation Club. What you don’t have one? Okay then, start one – every Thursday from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm or whatever time, day and duration may suit you and your learners. The key is to give THEM the majority of control, or at least as much as possible. Use props, use realia, use pictures, music or whatever you and your learners may have on hand to start, stop and sustain the activities. Other “clubs” you could join include:

• Pronunciation clubs

• Reading clubs

• Movie clubs

• Acting Clubs

Use your and your learners’ imaginations. The sky’s the limit – or maybe the Administration’s sky is the limit. But no matter, just try something new for starters.

Try out some of these not-so-commonly-used techniques for adding that “new twist” to your English or foreign language classes. Give your learners something new to relieve any boredom and spike their interest. Can’t you just hear those Affective Filters falling now?

How To Choose The Best External Sound Card For Recording and-or Podcasting

The question of choosing the best External Sound Card for a particular use or application gets asked a lot. I have put together this quick guide which highlights the main considerations when choosing the right audio interface for your PC or Mac for recording and/or podcasting.

The first question: What are you going to be using an external sound card / audio interface for?
Podcasting Recording simple vocals for presentations Home recording vocals and instruments Recording an entire band or group

Benefits of an External Sound Card
An external sound card or audio interface, often called a "break out" box, has a major advantage over an internal PCI / PCI-Express card when it comes to recording and podcasting. The Analog to Digital (A/D) and Digital to Analog (D/A) conversion engine is located in the external box, therefore, all of the processing that goes on to change the analogue stream into a digital stream and vice versa is undertaken inside the box away from the electrical noise of your computer. The resulting digital signal is sent via cable to an input in your PC or Mac via a USB, Firewire or a dedicated card specifically designed to couple the box to your computer.

How To Choose The Best External Sound Card For Recording and-or Podcasting

Other important advantages include, ease of installation and connectivity; advanced functionality such as pre-amps; Hi-Z inputs; in-built hardware effects; mobility; use with laptops, notebooks and desktops.

Considerations
How many analog inputs do you need? Are you podcasting using one or two microphones (2 inputs)? Do you need inputs for musical instruments such as a guitar and/or keyboards (4 - 8 Inputs)? Or perhaps you want to record your entire band and microphone up the drum kit (20+ simultaneous inputs)?

The more inputs you need, the more you will need to spend. From experience it is advisable to choose an external sound card with a few more inputs, just in case.

Pre-Amps
Pre-amps boost the very low signal input from microphones up to a level that mixers, sound cards, effects, etc can work with. Pre-amps are not optional if you are recording with microphones. You need a pre-amp channel for every microphone you are recording simultaneously. I recommend you get the same amount of pre-amps as you have analog inputs in your external sound card. It doesn't do you any good to have the inputs if you can't use them.

Connecting your external sound card to your PC or Mac
PCI or PCI-Express (Via internal card to "Break out" box) - Desktop only - not easy to install USB 1.1 - Slowest connection speed- only good for one input at a time USB 2.0 - Faster, The standard - better for simultaneously recording up to 8 inputs, Mobile USB 3.0 - NEW, Faster still, awaiting audio peripherals to be released (One to keep an eye on) Firewire - Stable, fast, low latency, preferred solution by seasoned recordists

PC, Mac or both.
Make sure your chosen external sound card works on your machine - the specifications will tell you. There are externals sound cards that work just on PCs and just on Mac's and those that work fine on both.

MIDI
Many external sound cards come with MIDI in and out ports. If you need MIDI or think you may want to experiment with MIDI, I recommend that you purchase a sound card with MIDI already built-in. You'll want to make sure that the sound card uses a standard MIDI jack as some include ports that need adaptors. It is best to avoid adaptors.

MIDI can trigger synthesizers (which essentially shapes and moulds sound electronically to model various instruments) or samplers (which instantaneously play back short recordings of sound files). Because of this, MIDI is used all the time in music ranging from techno to metal to movie scores. With the right samples, it is easy to switch from working on an orchestral score to a rap beat in seconds.

Hi-Z Input
Increase the quality of your direct guitar recordings, by plugging your guitar into a high impedance input. Your standard sound card input was not designed to work with a guitar and therefore, some high frequencies can be lost. Hi-Z input is Included on many audio interfaces.

Monitoring
Do you need to monitor vocals / guitars through headphones, have separate monitoring for each member of the band? Most recording software will allow direct monitoring of the signal through the main outs (which is how you listen on playback through you studio monitors). This is usually satisfactory for a drummer but may not be nearly as useful for the rest of the band.

Do some research before buying an external audio interface to make sure that your monitoring needs are taken care of.

Software
Some sound cards come with recording software included. Make sure you factor this into your decision and into the price as well. Most recording programs bundled with sound cards are the "LE" version which means they generally are lacking some of the features of the given companies flagship model.

With that said, most people do not need the features included in the most high end recording software. You will probably be fine with whatever software that comes with your audio hardware (assuming it comes with any at all). If you find that the program that comes with your sound card is lacking in features, most companies will allow you to upgrade to more high end versions at a discounted price.

A selection of well known software companies that work well with an external sound card include Cakewalk, Cubase Alberton and Pro Tools.

How to Get Radio Interviews - Get Booked on Radio Shows to Promote Yourself and Your Products Free

How to get radio interviews is a common public relations question, especially for authors, experts, and marketers. You can get booked for free radio publicity interviews as an interview guest to promote your product or book on radio show interviews, if you follow these steps:

1. Identify radio shows that book guest experts like you for interviews:

The fastest way to do this is to search on Google using search terms like "radio talk show"+ "your topic". (NOTE: You want to search on "talk radio" rather than just "radio" to find shows that book guest experts for promotional interviews instead of only playing music!)

How to Get Radio Interviews - Get Booked on Radio Shows to Promote Yourself and Your Products Free

2. Find contact info for the radio show's producers or bookers:

Big, nationally-syndicated talk radio shows have a staff of producers. The best producers to reach are those that find and schedule expert guests and authors for on the air interviews. These producers are called "bookers". For smaller or local radio shows or Internet radio podcasts, the booker, the producers, and the host may all be the same person.

3. Create and send a targeted pitch:

You need to e-mail, fax, FedEx, Tweet or call the producers to offer your expertise and information. Remember that they are not interested in you, your book, or your products. Their goal is to find interesting new information that educates and/or entertains their audience. Your job is to craft a pitch that gets their attention. To get radio interviews, your radio interview pitch should offer helpful details of your expertise that fit into their current radio show programming needs.

(Tip: Offer real information, not just a product pitch. A radio interview, podcast appearance, or TV segment is a big opportunity for you to establish yourself as an expert, not just to get a free commercial.)

While the strategies above are proven methods for getting interviewed on radio and being booked to appear on TV, they are the same steps that thousands of other publicity-seeking experts are following right now, too.

Coffee Shop Millionaire - Detailed Review

When I heard there was going to be a launch of a product called Coffee Shop Millionaire, it intrigued me so I pulled some strings and was able to get a look into what this product was all about, so here is what you get when you become a member of Coffee Shop Millionaire.

Before I begin, I have to tell you that this product is set up in a very unique way, it basically has self made millionaires telling how they were able to become exactly that. Since there is so much content within this product I am going to try and tell you exactly about each section of the course but since there is so much that comes with this product I will not be able to cover all the specifics of Coffee Shop Millionaire, because it would make this article way to long.

So here are all the sections that you will get if you become a member of Coffee Shop Millionaire, before I go further I think it is important for me to note that each of the video's are Standard, High Def, and can be Downloaded in video, audio, or pod casting formats.

Coffee Shop Millionaire - Detailed Review

Cash Machines Section - This is broken down into 4 parts and they are:

Local Cash Machine - shows you how to make an extra 0 to 00 as a local internet marketing consultant, this is a very easy to get going. This does not even require cold calling or anything like that. They even show you how to outsource if you do not want to do this yourself, and even though it is local they show you exactly how to do this in other cities as well.

Newsletter Cash Machine- This shows you how to get money anywhere from about ,500 to ,000 a month by sending simple email newsletters to customers and subscribers and website visitors of an existing business. Essentially it is list management, and the nice part is you are getting paid to leverage other peoples assets.

Article Cash Machine - this shows you how to make money as a Freelance Article writer. This shows you how to start out with no experience, no clients, etc. and how to start earning 00 a month in income, very fast. This is broken down into 3 parts

1. Brief introduction on article writing, success mindset, setting up "Tools of the Trade"
2. How to quickly write and deliver articles.
3. How to get paying clients fast.

Video Cash Machine- This shows you how to create 30 to 90 second promotion video for local businesses and exactly how to get this up and running.

Million Dollar Launch Secrets Section - This is then broken down into 15 parts, each part is fairly self explanatory:

Skill Set Video's Section - This is then broken down into 3 parts that each then go into a lot of detail, that slowly builds up your knowledge of internet marketing:

Registering Domains Hosting Setup Modify Content Autoresponder Setup Adding Audio and Video Adding PayPal Button Adding ClickBank Payment Button Blogger Setup WordPress Setup Upload using FTP PHP Redirect Elance EzineArticle Submission

The next section is Your Content Library (pretty self explanatory)

Bonuses Section - Kevin Wilke, Now I am sure there is more coming in this BONUS SECTION, however I am getting a look at this product ahead of the actual launch so I am not completely sure what all of the bonuses are.

Rolodex Section - Is divided into 2 parts they are:

Rolodex - This has a list of basically all the RESOURCES that you are going to need in running a profitable and successful online business.

Coffee Shop Millionaires Interviews - Once again I am getting a look before the actual release of the product, however this is where there are going to be interviews with people who have started out with basically a job at a Coffee Shop (hence the name for the product) and have made themselves into millionaires.

Forum

PRO's of Coffee Shop Millionaire:

They give you a complete model of how to start a profitable online business. You can start setting up your online business by just doing it part time. They give several ways for you to start making money online, so you do not have to follow just one way of starting to create an online income. You can learn from real life examples of people who started essentially from where you are, and are now millionaires. All of the ways that Coffee Shop Millionaire explains on how to start a successful online business, are very realistic and easy to implement. So if you get this course and do not start earning money online, then the only person you have to blame is yourself for not TAKING ACTION. Although this is a membership site, it will most likely save you money in the long run of things, this is because most people buy a product and then purchase another product as soon as they get an email in their inbox selling them on the newest way to start making money online. However if you know that you already are going to be having a certain amount of income going towards your membership fee you are going to be less likely to purchase another product and stick with just this, which if you follow their easy directions you will be able to start earning money online. The other upside is that since it is a membership site you are going to be getting the newest and best information, on internet marketing. Coffee Shop Millionaire is perfect for both new and experienced internet marketers, because it covers each of the ways to make money online very well. A lot of the income streams that Coffee Shop Millionaire shows you how to make can be outsourced either in the beginning or after you start to make money with it and can then afford to outsource it. You get your money's worth from the Content Library alone.

CON's of Coffee Shop Millionaire:

It is a membership site, I am not usually very fond of sites that you have to keep renewing each month. (although you could get this product and then download all of the initial content and then unsubscribe from the site.) There is so much information that it is possible that some may get information overload, however unlike most products where you are learning just one single system, you will be able to learn about several different ways to create an online income and some of these are very easy to start implementing right away. As with most internet marketing products, experienced internet marketers may get bored with certain parts of Coffee Shop Millionaire, because they will already know some of the parts that are covered by this product. However that is to be expected with most products in the internet marketing niche.

CONCLUSION

Coffee Shop Millionaire is a very well put together product that will show you several different ways to start making money online, and very fast as well. The nice thing about this product is that since it shows you how to create multiple streams of online income, you can get one stream of income flowing in and then start on another.

It would be very realistic for someone to expect to be able to start earning a part time or even a full time income from what they learn from Coffee Shop Millionaire, it is even quite possible to become a millionaire after you begin to take action and start creating multiple streams of income, from what you have learned with this product. Coffee Shop Millionaire is a very good product for anyone who is serous about earning money online.

The Science of Podcasting

Creating a podcast might seem like smoke and mirrors or some form of mystic art. But there is a great deal of science involved. A basic process that anyone can follow to be successful. A repeatable process with a guaranteed result.

So what is the science of podcasting?

Well, actually there are four separate elements that form the science portion of podcasting.

The Science of Podcasting

1. The tools you require.

You could if you wish, trick out a complete audio recording studio in which to record your podcast. Or rent one if you prefer that alternative. But it really isn't necessary. All you require is a headset, a computer and audio editing software. The former can be obtained for less than . And Audacity is one of the best versions of the latter -- and it's free. As for the computer literally anything will do from a basic netbook to an ultra powerful desktop gaming system.

2. The process you need to follow.

One of the cornerstones of science is a repeatable process. Producing a quality podcast also requires a repeatable process. Generally there is a four step process involved in producing podcasts. This is just a subset of the standard learning content process. Since podcasts are marketing products, we will use the same target audience, solution and system as every other product in the product line. As a result the process begins with the planning of the podcasts (part of the product line planning).

3. How to record a podcast.

While the performance of the podcast content is part of the art of podcasting, the actual recording is part of the science. You could record it using high quality microphones and a mixing board. But really all you require is the headset and software mentioned above. Making the actual recording is simply a matter of putting on the headset, setting the recording levels and making the recording. However, you should record the level settings and how you adjusted your microphone. Why? Because by doing so you can ensure that the recording level of your podcast is uniform for all your podcasts.

4. How to edit a podcast.

The editing process consists of using Audacity or a similar audio editing tool. Errors should be removed -- within reason -- and the entire podcast brought within the required time length. Once the errors and dead air have been removed, you can begin to correct any sound quality issues. The frequency can be adjusted for example to provide depth to the individual's voice. Once the podcast content is acceptable, you need to add the packaging. This is the added musical content during the opening and closing credits and between columns.

How To Avoid Copyright Infringement

Copyright infringement is not an easy thing to explain. While it may seem as simple as not using someone else's work, it's not that easy. Thanks to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and many other organizations, we have the ability to use others' works -- as long as we use it under Fair Use laws. So what does Fair Use have to do with copyright infringement, and how can you utilize it?

Fair Use laws allow us to use a copyrighted work without having to pay someone royalties. This includes using a copyrighted work for educational or instructional uses, criticism of the work, commentaries on the work, news reporting about the work, teaching on the work (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship uses, and research. This is talked about fully in Section 107 of the Copyright Code (commonly called Fair Use) and is available for you to read at your local library.

Copyright Infringement in day-to-day life

How To Avoid Copyright Infringement

Sometimes, if you're writing a paper for work or school, or if you are creating a Power Point presentation, you need to use someone's work that is already in copyright. So how do you use it without committing copyright infringement? All you have to do is ask -- the worst they can say is no, right? But, if they do say no, there are several items in the public domain which may help you to finish your project without having to commit copyright infringement.

What is the public domain, and how does it relate to copyright infringement?

Material that is not copyrighted is considered in the public domain. You cannot commit copyright infringement on works in the public domain. These works include things that the copyright has expired on, or is not copyrightable -- such as government publications, jokes, titles, and ideas. Some creators (writers, musicians, artists, and more) deliberately put their work in the public domain, without ever obtaining copyright, by providing an affiliation with Creative Commons. Creative Commons allows people who create materials to forfeit some, or all, of their copyright rights and place their work either partially or fully in the public domain.

So, how do I ensure I'm not committing copyright infringement?

First of all, if you're going to use someone else's material, you may want to check the public domain to see if something is suitable for use, instead of trying to use someone else's copyright. However, if you can't find something suitable (and you can't create something yourself), the next best thing (and your only legal course of action) is to find a piece that is in copyright, and contacting the copyright holder.

When you contact the copyright holder, make sure you tell them what you want to use their piece for -- whether it's for your blog, podcast, or report -- and ask if you can use it. You may have to pay royalties, or an attribution in your piece, or a combination of both. The creator may also place many limitations on when and how you can use their material. Follow all these instructions they give you, and you'll be free and clear to use their work as you want.

Once you have permission to use a copyrighted work, you need to make sure you stay within the agreed-upon boundaries. If you veer outside their agreed terms, you may open yourself up for a copyright infringement lawsuit, which can be nasty, costly, and time consuming. If you're in doubt, before contacting the copyright holder, contact a copyright lawyer to ensure you're following the law -- and protect yourself!

QUESTION: If you hear a great new band, and then download a song from MySpace, is that legal or not?

ANSWER: The events of copyright infringement are not only limited by Kazaa, Morpheus, or some other file sharing peer to peer (P2P) service. If you download a song -- no matter if you're on a website or a MySpace page -- and it isn't coming from the artist themselves, you may want to think about downloading it. Chances are, if it's not coming from them, you can't have it -- unless it is under a Creative Commons License. Creative Commons gives the exact ways in which you can use the license -- and many times those are completely free and legal to download, so make sure you check if it's under a CC License.

QUESTION: If I'm writing a paper, or article, and I want to quote another website, can I?

ANSWER: First of all, did you know the minute you write or create something, you hold the copyright to it? ESPECIALLY if you're writing it online -- it's very easy to track things on the Internet. So, if you're writing a blog, all the things you've written (no matter good or bad) are recorded, thanks to Archive.org, which lets you review last versions of your web pages.

Sometimes, we can use someone else's work in our own, and think we're small and anonymous. That no one will notice by the time you get it down -- you're just "borrowing" it. Before you begin quoting anyone's website -- from CNN to your local neighborhood hardware store -- you need to ask the person who holds the copyright if you can. Usually, they'll let you if you attribute to them. Depending who you talk to, you'll either have to pay royalties or license rights to republish. If you don't ask before you quote, you're beginning the events of copyright infringement and you are opening yourself up for a lawsuit.

6 Podcasting Techniques For Podcast Marketing Success

Even if you have a basic understanding of podcasting-do you know precisely what podcast is all about and how it works? Have you listened and subscribed to podcasts? I recommend you take a few days becoming familiarized with podcasting before attempting to record your own podcast.

Start Listening To Podcasts

As I described above it's also a good idea to start listening to podcasts so you can get a feel for what podcasting is all about. Podcast Alley lists thousands of podcasts. There are several popular podcasting directories like Podcast Alley listing many podcast. Take a look at the top 50 podcasts listed in Podcast Alley and listen to some of those podcasts. This is an excellent way of getting a feel for what podcasting is all about.

Podcasting Technique #2

Understand Your Niche

What passion do you share with others? Who is your target audience? What is your goal? Understanding your niche will not only help you in your podcast marketing endeavors but in any type of marketing. If you're doing article marketing you want to provide your niche with articles that will help your reader not just blast them with your affiliate link. This also applies to podcast marketing. Know your audience and what is you're trying accomplish.

If your goal is to build your credibility online within a niche than you need to be offer real value and knowledge to your listeners. This will take more ongoing podcasting and offering expert advice. Compared to podcasting to be listed in the directories for tapping new traffic. Than all you need is a few short podcasts. I explain this in more detail in my Niche Podcasting Guide but regardless of what marketing campaigns you're involved with the better understanding you have about your niche-the better you will do in that niche.

Podcasting Technique #3

Develop Your Plan Of Attack

What do you need to learn? There are many sources online that will help you start podcasting. Once you have the needed information (don't waste time re-inventing the wheel use a guide) start developing your plan of attack. What equipment do you need? How about software? What specific date will you start podcasting? Do you have support in place to help you out?

Podcasting Technique #4

Find Your Voice

Most of us can't stand the sound of our own voice. That was a tough barrier for me to break. But guess what-your recorded voice is not as bad as you think it is. Trust me on this. You might think it sounds awful but to other it won't. So just start recording to overcome this obstacle.

Be yourself! The beauty of podcasting is that it's not radio. The last thing we need is another radio DJ wannabe. You know what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter if you're from the Americas, Europe, Australia, Asia, we all have those over the top, cheesy, radio announcers. That is not what podcasting is all about. So be yourself and you will find your voice and you're listeners will become rabid fans!

Podcasting Technique #5

Podcast What?

This is another fear many future podcasters wrestle with but you shouldn't fret.  The beauty of podcasting is that listeners don't want the typical radio fodder so just be yourself.  And don't forget about video.  Are you leveraging the power of video marketing (you should)? If you have videos on YouTube-use that same video file and turn it into a podcast. It's an over looked fact that podcasting is not just audio. Video podcasting is very popular and you can use your existing videos and turn those into "new" video podcasts even if the actual video file is a year old.

Podcasting Technique #6

Just Do It - No Excuses!

I've bought many Internet marketing e-books and I'm active in the forums so I know how often folks say this: TAKE ACTION!

But a reason many successful marketers and gurus use that line is for a reason-it's true. If you really want to step up your Internet marketing efforts, than podcasting will give a significant advantage. But you have to start podcasting. So no more excuses, stop procrastinating and start podcasting right away.

Satellite TV Makes Super Bowl Viewing Accessible Worldwide

I couldn't be happier living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Great food, great nightlife, great people, and right now it's summer, which is the icing on the cake. Traveling and living abroad in the twenty-first century is much different than ever before. More than anything, this is due to technology and the ease of communication. Although, I am thousands of miles away, I talk to my family every week via video chat. I keep up with American news through the internet and podcasts. All of this I can do from the comforts of my own bed with my laptop. But when it comes to keeping up with American sports, I crave the atmosphere that makes watching sports so fun! I would never miss a super bowl, but I would also never watch it by myself in my bedroom. I want to watch it with screaming fans who can get me riled up!

Well, this is possible, thanks to satellite TV. Someone could have convinced me I was sitting in a bar in the United States last night, as I cheered on the New Orleans Saints. Well if it weren't for the summer heat flowing through the windows that is. I'm sure I would have been wrapped up in hats and scarves in the United States, but that's beside the point. Fans were decked out in their Saints and Colts gear. Signs that read "Who dat?" were waving in every direction, as the high definition screens spread across the bar excited the energetic fans. American football is something that few other cultures care for. In a way, I understand why. The sport is fairly barbaric. It is not as graceful as soccer or basketball, which are much more appreciated worldwide. But having grown up in America, in a football loving family, I have a very soft spot for football and what it represents.

I have never religiously tuned into football, I have never purchased the NFL Sunday Ticket, but I also have never missed a super bowl, and never plan to either. It is oddly comforting to be thousands of miles away from home, and know that I can not only watch the super bowl, but I can watch it in a bar filled with fans who love football, and who feel the same excitement and get just as riled up. Instead of good ol' American bar food, I was eating Empanadas, typical Argentine food, and sipping Quilmes beer, typical Argentine beer. But empanadas are greasy and fatty, and Quilmes is cheep and light, so it's basically the same thing as eating wings or a burger, and drinking Budweiser beer. I'm sure to any Argentine walking by the bar, they wondered what could be going on, to have so many riled up cheering, jersey clad Americans going crazy on a Sunday night. Being able to watch football from abroad is just one of the many wonderful qualities of satellite TV.

MP3 vs. WMA

There are just a few audio compression formats out there, just like there are only a few image compression formats (you may have heard of them: JPG, GIF, BMP). Two of the most popular audio formats are WMA, or Windows Media Audio, and MP3 (Short for MPEG, Moving Pictures Experts Group, Audio Layer 3). WMA is the older audio format, produced by Microsoft, to work with Microsoft's Windows media player. The WMA compression format was designed specifically for this format, and thus can not be converted to other audio formats.

The audio quality of WMA and MP3 audio formats tends to be noticeably different. WMA is a decent quality audio format when streaming at phoneline speeds (maybe 30kbps or so). At such speed WMA almost reaches an FM level of audio quality, although not quite. At 128kbps, Microsoft claims the WMA is nearly CD-quality, although many would deny this. WMA, however, is not to be completely looked over. The compression provides relatively small audio files and they require less processing power to execute. It thus retains a deminishing niche as MP3 has become more popular and widely used.

The MP3 audio compression was developed in Germany in 1991 by the Fraunhofer Institute. MP3 typically provides higher quality sound than WMA because it uses perceptual audio coding to compress CD-quality sound by a factor of 12. As a result, MP3 has become almost the universal standard among audio usage and broadcasting. It provides CD-quality sound at reasonable compression sizes and high streaming speeds. Watch out, however, at low bitrates, as MP3 quality will likely suffer.

5 Ways Copywriting Can Promote Your Professional Service Business

Monica, a very competent businesswoman, was describing her new website. "The headline will be my slogan," she said confidently. "You know: the part that goes, 'More impact when you speak, every time.'"

But a slogan and a headline fill different purposes.

Podcasting

Naturally I've disguised the details but Monica's not unusual. You've got at least 5 ways to brag - all different.

5 Ways Copywriting Can Promote Your Professional Service Business

(1) Slogan or Tag Line.

Your slogan usually appears near your logo on your website, on your business card and (often) in your elevator speech.

Your slogan should reflect the benefits you offer your clients, not your own uniqueness. I once saw a slogan on a truck, "We know everything about lumber." My response: "So...why should I care?"

Better: "We use wood to make your home look beautiful."

I've used "Promotion with professionalism" and, "If your website isn't making money while you sleep, we need to talk." My current career slogan: "From career breakdown to career breakthrough."

(2) Resource box statement.

When you send out articles to promote your business, you need a short signature block - 5 to 7 lines - to conclude your article. You'll need a brief sentence summarizing your uniqueness, such as: "Mary Jones helps high-earning professionals lose their credit card debt and gain financial security in six months or less."

Some professionals opt for a simpler version: "Bob Smith helped over 200 authors publicize their books to increase sales" or even, "Jane Doe has been helping corporate executives manage their careers since 1992."

I recommend a sentence rather than a phrase because resource boxes get chopped when your article gets published.

(3) Irresistible freebie.

To motivate website visitors to sign up for your ezine, ecourse or podcast, you need a gift they can't wait to download. Go for broke with this one: if it feels over the top to you, it's probably just right for your readers.

Typical titles refer to a number of critical or essential tips. "Secrets" sounds corny but it still works. I've had considerable success with "7 best-kept secrets of client attracting copy." Others might be "How to avoid the 5 deadly mistakes made by career changers."

Tip: I encourage my copy clients to begin a website copywriting project with the freebie. It's a good way to get in touch with your clients' pain.

(4) Headline.

Your home page needs a killer headline that motivates readers to keep reading. We could spend a whole article on this topic - in fact, whole books have been written about headlines.

(5) Elevator speech.

Designing an elevator speech resembles creating copy for your website: you focus on the target and demonstrate your benefits.

I don't recommend trying to economize on promotion by using the same concept for all 5 bragging opportunities, although you'll find this formula applied successfully to packaged goods marketing. For professional services, each bragging opportunity calls for a new piece of copy, targeted to opportunity.

Health Benefits of Pizza

In the past it was commonly believed that pizza was not really a healthy food. Part of the reason for this is that it was put in the same group as other fast foods, such as hamburgers and fries. This is a major misconception, as pizza can actually be a highly nutritional meal.

One of the main ingredients of pizza is the tomato, which contains lycopene, a powerful antioxidant. Lycopene is known to help fight many different types of cancer. Studies have shown that people who eat pizza at least once a week were much less likely to develop colon and mouth cancer as well as stomach and lung cancer. It is known to be especially helpful in fighting prostate cancer. Studies have shown that eating pizza can lower your chance of developing esophageal cancer by nearly 59%.

Podcasting

It is the tomato that is the main cancer-fighting ingredient of pizza. Incredibly, studies have also shown that processed tomatoes such as those found in pizza or spaghetti sauce are actually higher in lycopene than fresh tomatoes. The reason for this is that during the process of cooking and processing the tomatoes, the water content evaporates leaving a higher concentration of the antioxidant.

Health Benefits of Pizza

Tomato sauce is extremely healthy, and for this reason so is pizza, but there are additional pizza toppings that can also enhance your health. Onions are rich in chromium, vitamin C, and fiber. They help to lower your blood sugar, cholesterol as well as blood pressure. Black olives are another great addition to pizza. Olives contain ingredients that help ward off heart disease and lower your cholesterol. The red pepper is a great pizza topping. They are sweet and tasty as well as full of Vitamin C, A, and B6.

Another health benefit of pizza is the dough. In actuality, pizza dough is another ingredient of pizza that is high in antioxidants, and through certain baking techniques the antioxidants in the dough can actually be increased.

Adding even more health benefits to pizza is simple. A vegetable pizza with just a little cheese is a very healthy food. You get the great taste and health benefits of pizza without all the extra fat and cholesterol normally associated with meats and cheese. If you are a meat fanatic and just can't handle your pizza without meat, you can always add some grilled chicken to your vegetable pizza. Chicken offers many health benefits that other meats don't, and it tastes great.

With the many health benefits of pizza, it can no longer be viewed in the same light as other fast foods.

What Is Commitment in Relationships?

The question of when a relationship is committed is a source of much confusion and debate. We live in a time when the marriage rate is going down, the co-habitation rate is going up, and the majority of first-born children are now born to unmarried parents.

In this article I hope to shed some light on this question to facilitate your work with couples and individuals challenged by different perceptions of the status of their relationships.

Commitment

COMMITMENT VS. PROMISE

What Is Commitment in Relationships?

I recently had a conversation with a woman who told me she had just broken off a "committed" relationship. A few questions later I learned that she had been dating this person for a year, they were not living together, and the reason she broke it off is that he "cheated."

We talked about pre-committed vs. committed relationships, and she agreed that it was a pre-committed relationship, but insisted that they had made a "commitment" to each other.

OK, things are getting clearer. On the one hand is the status of the relationship- pre-committed vs. committed, and on the other hand are commitments made within the relationship. Macro vs. micro. Two different things, right?

In our conversation, it occurred to me to make a distinction between a "Commitment" vs. a "Promise." They made a promise to each other within the context of a relationship that was not committed. That distinction seemed to help her make more sense of things.

When I asked the RCI coaches for feedback on the "commitment vs. promise" distinction, most felt that it was just semantics and there is not much of a difference. The general consensus was that when you make a promise you are making a commitment.

Well, I agree that it is a question of semantics, and here is my definition of terms:

PROMISE: Verbally stated future intention to perform a specific act.

- I promise to pick up your dry cleaning and not forget this time - I promise to be exclusive in our relationship

COMMITMENT: Both a FACT demonstrated by behavior, and an ATTITUDE consisting of thoughts and beliefs.

- I am committed to keeping my promises - I am committed to our relationship

In short, a promise is something you say, and a commitment is something you do. A promise is situation-specific. A commitment is contextual.

A promise is a small commitment. If a potential partner doesn't keep promises, I would question their ability to keep commitments, as they are definitely related.

CONFUSION ABOUT COMMITMENT

Whether or not you agree with my semantics, the distinction I made between a commitment and a promise was helpful for the above conversation.

The larger picture though, is that I see a lot of confusion about the status of today's relationships. Some years ago when I coined the term "pre-commitment" to describe couples that were exclusive but not yet committed, it was a helpful distinction, but the question remains- "What is commitment?"

When you are married, it is clear you are in a committed relationship. Your commitment is a legal contract and a publicly witnessed FACT. However, it is common for couples in trouble for one or both partners to have an uncommitted ATTITUDE.

I have talked with many unmarried people, as the woman above, who have described themselves in "committed relationships." They clearly have the attitude, but often have nothing but verbal promises (and sometimes not even that!) to demonstrate that the relationship is committed.

IN MY OPINION, YOU ARE -NOT- IN A COMMITTED RELATIONSHIP IF:

1. Your partner is not aware your relationship is committed

2. You are wondering if this relationship is committed

3. You and your partner have differences of opinion about the status of your relationship

4. Your family and friends have different perceptions about the status of your relationship

5. You and your partner have not acted to explicitly formalize your commitment in some way

6. You are relying on verbal promises without a significant track record of them being kept

A commitment is explicit and unambiguous. A commitment is a formal event of some kind between two people. A commitment is something you DO over time. A real commitment is usually legally enforceable and there are consequences for breaking it.

And, for a relationship to be truly committed, there are no exits- mentally, emotionally, or physically. When the going gets rough, you make it work.

CONTINUUM OF COMMITMENT

Commitment is not a light switch that goes from "off" to "on." When building a relationship with someone, the level of commitment gradually increases.

Then you have all the shades of gray. living together, dating exclusively for more than a year, even engaged to be married, that might look and feel like commitment, but is it really?

FACT VS. ATTITUDE

Commitment in a relationship is complicated in that it takes two people, and it requires an alignment of FACT (events, actions) and ATTITUDE (thoughts, beliefs) for both of them.

It is common to be committed in fact (e.g. "married") but not in attitude (e.g. "I'm not sure this is the right relationship for me").

It is also common to be pre-committed in fact (e.g. dating exclusively) and committed in attitude (e.g. "This is 'The One!' ").

In my work with couples I have found that the most important variable determining their future success is their level of commitment to the relationship.

In my experience, when couples are committed in fact, but not in attitude, their prognosis is poor.

Then, there are the pre-committed couples that generally fall into two categories-

UNCONSCIOUS- typically following the "mini-marriage" model of trying the relationship out, acting committed without actually making the commitment. A disconnect of fact and attitude.

CONSCIOUS- aware that they are not yet committed, usually have commitment as a goal, asking themselves "Is this the right relationship for me? Should I make a commitment?" An alignment of fact and attitude.

CONCLUSION

So, when is a relationship committed?

-- When there is an alignment of fact and attitude.

What creates the "fact" of commitment?

I propose these three criterion:

CRITERIA #1: Promises made to each other about the permanent nature of the relationship that are kept

CRITERIA #2: Explicit, formal, public declaration

CRITERIA #3: Unambiguous to partners and others

In today's world, if all three of the above are met, I would say it is a committed relationship, whether legally married or not.

I sincerely hope this article helps address the common questions about commitment that arise in relationship coaching. There are no pat answers or prescriptions, but it is my hope that these ideas and concepts will help you have productive conversations with your clients that are caught in the gray areas to support them to make effective relationship choices.

What Do Crickets Eat?

Crickets are insects that belong to the Order Orthoptera and the Class Insecta. Crickets are an important part of the ecosystem since they help in the breakdown of plant material. They are also an important source of food for other animals like small owls, spiders, birds, mice, shrews, snakes, frogs, raccoons and opossums. There are many species of crickets: house crickets, field crickets, ground crickets, cave crickets, mole crickets, camel crickets, snowy tree cricket and mole crickets.

Crickets are reared and used as bait for fish and as food for some pets. The Chinese also use crickets in medicines. They are popularly used as a sport like cock fights. Crickets are also believed to bring luck. Rearing crickets is very easy since they tend to eat anything. Providing a nutritious diet to the crickets is very important as it helps in breeding. Another reason is that the nutrition from the cricket's diet would be passed on to the pets, which each these crickets.

Cycling

Crickets are omnivores and feed on almost anything-usually organic materials, plant decay, grass, fruits, seedling plants, fungi and even meat. Crickets need good diet otherwise they tend to feed on each other. Cricket foods are commercially available in the market at feed shops. There are specific brands of cricket feed also. For a few crickets, tropical fish make a good meal though it would be expensive. Rolled oats with fresh fruits and vegetables is an ideal food for crickets. Cornflakes, bread and digestive biscuits can also be given. Crickets also relish fruits like apples, bananas and grapes and vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce and cabbage. Chicken laying mash is also good cricket food and is cost effective for feeding large number of crickets. Some food supplements like alfalfa, calcium supplements and raw vegetable scraps can also be added for additional nutrition.
